Paul J. Lytle received his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law. Paul’s work in both trial advocacy and pre-trial litigation have been recognized with the CALI Excellence for the Future Award. Prior to the founding of the Lytle Law Group, Paul spent time working with the Office of the Cook County Public Defender, and also in private practice.
Paul collaborated in the establishment of a legal assistance program at Universidad Popular, a local community cultural center, and has volunteered his time as a staff attorney with such notable Chicago-based legal aid providers as LAF (formerly, the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago), and CARPLS (Coordinated Advice & Referral Program for Legal Services). Paul is a member of the Chicago Bar Association; the DuPage County Bar Association; the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Robert E. Jones Inn of Court.
Paul has been featured as a panelist during the Chicago Bar Foundation’s “Future of the Law Week.” Paul is a Fellow at the Justice Entrepreneurs Project, an organization committed to increasing affordable access to legal representation, through the proffer of unbundled services, flat fees and reduced rates.

I wanted to write a formal review for Mr. Paul Lytle, because he recently represented me in a Domestic Relations Case – Family Law regarding my son. I have a 4-year-old who was being withheld from me by the mother, and despite all my best efforts she continued to withhold my son. She went as far as creating a false order of protection against me to ensure I was unable to see my son. At that time, I began searching for legal representation, since her and I did not have a court order in place. I was feeling defeated until Paul reached out to me. He was the very first litigator that provided me honest feedback and off the bat stated we would be able to get my parenting time back. From there he took a very rigorous course of action and was able to not only get my case date upped from November to September, but he was able to take the false order of protection that was filed against me with my son’s name on it vacated. He is an honest man and a true man of his word. He was able to complete everything we discussed in under one month and in 2 court dates. He is not only willing to work with you around flexibility with regard to your individual circumstances, but he is extremely diligent and responsive. Without Paul, my son and I would not be reunited today. I was able to spend my birthday with my son, because he was able to complete all of this one week prior to then. He truly gave my family and I the best gift and we are eternally grateful to him!
When I first met Mr. Lytle, I was very nervous. My brother was facing 75 years for an aggravated armed robbery. Mr.Lytle told me “don’t worry, I’ll do my best.” I didn’t wanna believe him. My brother’s charge was dropped to a simple robbery. If I couldn’t attend court Mr. Lytle would call and give me an update by the end of the day. All I can say about Mr. Lytle is OUTSTANDING! I was dealing with a custody and child support issue with my child’s mother (was never married to her). She was constantly going through child support behind my back for modification which I was never notified. I was stressed out and did not know what to do. I retained Mr. Lytle to defend me against an order of protection. From the beginning, he was professional, courteous, timely, informative and competent. He was knowledgeable about the law and defense against orders of protection and was able to explain the process to me in a concise and complete manner. He prepared me fully for each step including the trial–giving me several phone consultations and was complete in his search for information. He discussed his plan of action for our defense and was courteous to seek my approval and answer my questions at each step. At no time, did I feel rushed or that my questions were not answered completely and thoroughly. The day of our trial, we were presented with a surprise piece of evidence. Mr. Lytle handled the new information with ease and adjusted his defense appropriately. His cross-examination was masterful. He is clearly a highly skilled litigator. I was able to see his notes from my position and it was clear that he had been extremely attentive to every detail of our conversation (and I gave him a lot!) He had a basic outline prepared and then adjusted as mentioned. His line of questioning was curious to me at times but he would bring the information extracted back in a way that was advantageous to us and summarize it beautifully to make it concise for the judge. It was incredible to observe. Again, he is a masterful litigator. My case was dismissed after his cross. I did not even have to testify. He also asked questions with the forethought to assist me in my divorce proceedings. I can now use that transcript when I proceed because of the information he was able to obtain during his cross examination. He did this even knowing that he would not represent me in that case as he gave me a referral as it is not his area of expertise. I should also mention that he was known by the court staff. All of them addressed him personally and had a pleasant rapport with him. It was evident that he was a well-respected attorney . To close, I cannot give a higher recommendation to retain Mr. Lytle. He got my case dismissed and brought closure to me and my children in a horrific time of our lives.
